There have been many contests on the chipboard. I have participated in some and actually won a couple. Now it’s my turn to have some fun and offer up this contest.
As most chippers have done, when I started, I collected anything and everything my budget would allow. As most chippers discovered, that approach did not work. My collection then became centered on what I call “name” chips. The beauty is that I got to define the parameters. It started out as Nevada only chips with an actual name on the chip, typically the owner’s name. Examples are Big Al’s Speakeasy, Bob Stupak’s Sinabar, Don French’s Bonanza, etc. You get the idea. Limited edition commemorative chips are not allowed. This soon expanded to other states, particularly California, then to illegal gaming joints and UFCs. Some of my name chips simply have a name, as in LEE. No casino, no location, no denomination, nothing but LEE.
CONTEST
How many unique first and last names do I have in my collection? I may have 10-20 chips from different locations with the name of “Bob”. That counts as only one. Sam and Sammie counts as two. Rob and Robert count as two. Nicknames count also, as in Shorty. Remember, I got to define the parameters.
Your guess should be in two parts, i.e. xx-yy, xx first names - yy last names. It’s okay to go over, closest is what matters. Scoring will be as follows - the difference in first names PLUS the difference in last names. So, you miss first names by 10 and last names by 3, your score is 13. Lowest score wins. In case of a tie, the earliest entry will win.
Sorry Jeff Buckner, you have an edge, you cannot play. No problem, I’ll buy you a beer. Only one entry per person. Put your entry in the SUBJECT LINE. Only SUBJECT LINE entries will be counted. Only CCGTCC members can enter. Contest will end 24 hours after I post, unless someone nails it.
I don’t have a working scanner. The winner will receive an assortment of chips which will include a few Nevada obsoletes, a few Nevada currents, several UFC’s and who knows what else I may include. Hopefully the winner can scan and post their goodies upon receipt.
Good luck to all and God Bless all chippers.
