I had one of these when I was in High School(1957).
My parents co-signed for my uncle-in-law(aunt's husband(?)) to buy the car.
Three months later he skipped town(just ahead of the law) and for some reason left the car behind.
My father was unemployed, my mother was making just enough to keep us in groceries.
I was working at the local bowling alley six days a week. I wanted the car and had the money, so rather than default on the loan they let me take over the payments.
I was a Junior in High School(16), with a freshly minted driver's license, and a one year old car, and doing it on my own hook!
I was one of the poor kids from the wrong side of town, but I had the newest car of anyone in school.
You think I wasn't puffed up just a little bit?
