>>>"The company has already started slabbing so trying to stop it is in my understanding silly!
Just like the one on EBAY now".<<<
Dave; The chip on ebay is a sample UNGRADED chip. I personally have not seen one chip that has been submitted to ICG for grading and encapsulating yet. I'm sure they probably do exist, but now is the time to discourage companies like ICG from investing more of their unwanted product into our hobby.
You spoke of your father's experience in coins and the slabbing over there associated with it. Here is an email that I received several days ago from one who did not wish to post to the board and I will not divulge his identity.
"On Saturday at the FUN show I saw people looking through microscopes at coins and asking the grading companies present to assess their coins. I can't imagine walking the bourse floor at the convention in Las Vegas and asking some "expert" to grade my chips using a magnifying glass or a mocroscope! There were some valid points made by a few of the people at the meeting regarding grading and slabbing but I just can't see myself walking up to a dealer at the show and asking him or her to grade my chips. I'm a tactile kind of guy and I like to touch and feel what I own or wish to own. Plastic is not one of my favorite things to touch, even if the slabs stack nicely or can be stored in great looking boxes."
