If you are going to spend any time in the city, here are my recommendations...

Eat at Scoma's on the wharf. Been there for decades and still the best seafood around.
See a play at the Curran Theatre. Best live theatre outside of Broadway.
Buy your kids (grandkids) a present at FAO Schwartz in Union Square. Will make you feel like a kid again.
Ride the Cable Cars and have an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista.
Most of all, take a big deep breath, and enjoy!
