Here's an auction price you don't see everyday. The guys at Lost Vegas are selling fantasy chips with various molds (ebay seller name is nevadamint). The chips show open & close dates (like Borland fantasy chips) and are listed as "retro" and "remakes". Nothing wrong with the auction, assuming that the buyers understand what they're getting. In fact, I plan to stop by their store when in LV next week to check out these chips & other memorabilia.
The odd thing is the final value on their Sahara $5 fantasy chip -- $274.99 !!!
In comparison, their Thunderbird $5 fantasy chip closed at $12.00 (which still seems high to me, for a fantasy chip).
I assume the Sahara price is due to a bidding frenzy between 2 bidders, mixed with the recent closing of the Sahara. I hope the high bidder wasn't expecting an actual Sahara 3rd issue, instead of this fantasy chip.
You can see both listings via ebay completed auctions for nevadamint. But for convenience, here are pics of the 2 chips from the ebay posts.
