Interesting story, Gene. I grew up (in the 1950's & on) in Dallas, and lived about a mile from Kessler Parkway. Rode my bike through that area all the time. It was an Ozzie & Harriet neighborhood. I was clueless about any of the gambling stuff going on downtown & elsewhere, but some of the landmarks you write about are familiar. There were certain areas, like the old highway between Dallas & Ft. Worth, that had "reputations".
