I think the San Francisco theme was based on the fact that there was a famous club in San Francisco called the Biltmore. Plus they always wanted to attract the San Francisco folks because they had the big bucks. A goodly number of the big estates around the lake were owned by people from SF and used as summer homes. Classy design in any case....
