With my netbook I don't need an external DVD drive. You can use a flash drive or memory card to transfer whatever files you want and mine has a 160 GB internal drive to store them. Everything you need for $199. My biggest complaint is that the screen works a lot better with the scans in landscape mode. In regular mode they are kind of small although windows media viewer will let you blow them up to get as much detail as you need.
