He was a chip collector who knew that I specialized in Tunica chips and had almost all of them on hand. That set I never even heard about and I am not a big collector of live $25 chips.
That Silver Strike I missed out on was when I was visiting a contact to buy some chips. He was one of the slot managers at Fitz and he mentioned that there were not a lot of the $200 strikes made but one was available in the gift shop. I looked at it but since it was 12 OZ and silver was $5 an ounce I "knew" I would never get my money out of it if I paid $225. Dumbest move ever.
I remember a post on the chipboard within the last year from someone offering $750 for the Halloween set. A few years ago you could buy old obsolete chips in quantity around Tunica and now there is almost nothing showing up. At one time a guy told me he had given a handfull of obsolete $25 chips to his kids to play with since he couldn't cash them in. I never was able to convince him to sell them to me.
