Additional Information

This is one of several different tokens issued for the 17th Infantry that was located at Camp Casey, Korea.

The other style token has the dates at the top, but in the center shield is 1st BG 17th INF.

Both styles of tokens have a number of issues with the primary difference being the date at the top:

The one that you have is known with the following dates:
1950-1951
1950-1952
1950-1953
1950-1954
1950-1955

The other style is known with the following dates:

1950-1951
1950-1958
1950-1959
1950-1961

All tokens are 21mm in size, and have a vaule of about $3.00 (each). At the time of production, this size of token could be used in the slot machines that were located at the clubs on base and it was remarked that this token cost 6c to produce but was only worth 5c (which is the size of tokens used in 5c slot machines at the time.

Both tokens are listed in Paul Cunningham's book (2) on Military Club Tokens.

Hope this helps

John
