~~~ I passed a 'toy vendor's' table who had 4 of these chips in his case. When I asked how much they were, he told me $3 each. I bought all 4 chips for $10, and when I got home I called the authors of The Gaming Table for an ID, but all they had were pictures of the original USPC notes showing other denoms and dates of manufacture/and where shipped to (Detroit)... so I figured I would go down to the South Florida Historical Society Library and snoop around. Sure enough; the chips were from an illegal Florida club, which info I found in some newspaper/magazine articles. A few well-known people were involved in the club as well. So, those 4 chips that I bought for $2.50 each and sold/traded for about $6 each, now had a much higher value of $10 each since they were now attributed; and that kind of piqued my interest in illegals... I returned to the show the following month and informed the vendor of my findings and started buying the balance of his box of 100 (about 83, I think).
