Re: Coupon Books ?
In Response To: Coupon Books ? ()

There are two main coupon books:

1) American Casino Guide (ACG) 2011 warning if you go buy this book at a local book store make sure you do not pick up the 2010 version which many have on their shelfs. Cost, I have seen it as low as $11.50 or so and as high as retail $18.95. Available in almost any book store for full retail. AAA members, they used to sell it at their places for about $10.00 to members only.

2) Las Vegas Advisor-Member Rewards - Get direct from the Las Vegas Advisor. Cost $37.00 + mailing fee.

Thoughts:

1) Each book has it's merits.
2) You will not be able to take advantage of many coupons unless you have a car.
3) Most of the match play (gambling ) coupons no longer are in either book as many casinos cut back.
4) show coupons in each book are just about worthless as you can get these for the same price in almost any Las Vegas magazine or rent-a-car book-or welcome book blah blah blah
5) food coupons, both books have also cut back on buffet coupons
6) The LVA Members Rewards book still had the $50 comp at the Palms (yes restrictions apply but not that many) which is the gem of the book.

I still get both books each year but the days of going on a coupon run with the wife, many times lasting 6 hours, and netting over $100 and once $160 are over.

You will get coupons when you stay at the South Point and get a buffet and a couple free drinks for starters.

I find out that last year when I went to the convention I had little time to take advantage of many coupons. You can use that $50 comp (50% up to $50.00) at the Palms on Tuesday nights when we have the Greg Susong Memorial get together at Gardunos Restaurant (coupon also is good for the drinks as well) so not hard to run up a bill here if you have 4 people in the party.

There is a list of coupons on each site you can read. Also a plethora of information at each site.

If you do buy an ACG I would cut the coupon section out, separate the book and carry that with you.

The members reward book from the LVA is small enough not to be a bother.

Have fun - the most important thing. vbg

I could write 20 pages on this stuff since I sell the ACG myself and been in the gambling book business for 7 years now but this should get you started.

Conclusion-the gambling and food value on both books has gone down over the last two years. Can you still get your money's worth out of each coupon book-yes very easily.
