It's not as bad as it seems. I remember when I first started playing poker, we played for baseball cards & comic books. I can remember playing for matchsticks & marbles too writing down the order of hands to teach a new person how to play just to get up a game at Boy Scout Camp. Alot has changed since 1957 but out of all of the games we played, it was my favorite game them & it is still my favorite game today.
