Recently, I have encountered my first bit of disssapointment while using the chip board. Before I start out with the story I want to say I will not be using any names and I don't mean to disrespect anyone.
A few days ago, a person listed a bunch of chips for sale on the board for $2 each plus $1 shipping. I saw the post 2 minutes after it had been posted and noticed a few obsolete Las Vegas chips that were a VERY good deal so I e-mailed the seller (and posted on the board) right away stating that I would take the chips. When my post hit the chip board, I noticed that another person also replied to the post stating he would also take the same chips at the same time I did. I e-mailed the seller who stated to me that if I was to buy 1 more chip that he had listed for the same price then I would get the initial 3 that I wanted plus the other. Do to really likeing the chips and the fact that they were a very good deal I replied right away saying I would take them. I was very excited at this point because these were chips that I really liked and wanted to add to my collection but there is no way I could normally afford to add these chips to my collection because the asking price is normally much higher. The problem comes in when I received the next e-mail from the seller who stated "their's five bidders fighting for these three chips. Some out bidding each other and some stating they hung a sold sign up first, not to mention one guy sending payment before even emailing me....I think i"m just going to delete the post to make it fair to all parties involved...".
First off, I received an e-mail from the other person who responded to purchase these at the same time as me stating that I could have the chips. Secondly I really hope that these chips were not sold to one of these "5" who were supposedly bidding against each other to receive these chips. If you offer chips for a set price then they should be sold to the first person who responds stating that he will pay the price for those chips. I really liked these chips and they would have been some of the nicer ones in my collection but now I won't be able to add them for a long time due to the high asking prices. Since I have been a member of the CC>CC and looking at the chip board everyday I have met some amazing people who are always straight up with you and willing to help you out. This deal had put a bad taste in my mouth and made me open my eyes and realize that not every one in this hobby is that great and willing to help out others. I still love this hobby and will not let this ruin it for me but it really does suck when you get your hopes up and tells you that you can have something and then says never mind. Thanks for listening to my rant and I am sorry if I am out of line with this post. Thanks lot for your time and help so far. Dan R-8220
