My collection was very modest, until around 2005, when two antique-hound friends of mine came across a binder of chips at an off-the-beaten-track consignment shop in Massachusetts. There were about 225 chips from Las Vegas and the Carribean. The binder had belonged to a dentist, who would keep a $1 chip from every casino he visited. He collected from 1961-1982. $500 for the lot, and just like that they were mine.
I kept alot of the Vegas stuff, sold all the Carribean chips, and used the profits to buy a few small collections, and did the same again----keep what I really want, sell the rest. Then did it again a few more times. That binder really got the ball rolling for me.
You never know!!!!
