I'm still going through my inventory getting ready for the convention and I noticed TCR listed two variations of the Reno Circus Circus navy 50¢ chip. I only had one in my collection. So I checked my inventory and sure enough I found two different. TCR calls them short cent sign and tall cent sign. I can't see much difference in the cent signs, but the "5"s are distinctly different. I call them open 5 and closed 5. But then I noticed the hot stamps on some of the open 5s looked gold and some looked silver. Now, I know a gold hot stamp can turn silver with handling, but when I separated them I saw the chips with a gold hotstamp all were a lighter shade of navy from the ones with a silver hot stamp. None of these chips are dirty or show much wear. So I'm convilced these are three distinctly different variations.
