I just walked through the Plaza two days ago- not to say there's lots of action going on, but they are not closed.

They have closed the main entrance and pulled a escalator out and left in in the front driveway. Apparently the Firefly restaurant and McDonalds have been closed down as work moved more their way? Slots still operate and the cage told me about a month ago that they hope to re open table games sometime in April. When I asked if they will use a new rack or the old chips she said they hadn't decided yet, so possible new issue soon?

As of monday evening, no work was seen getting done, but was after "union working hours"? most rooms have plastic tarps in the windows, so you cant see in, but some light is seen from many of them.

Here is a pic I took in Nov showing the front windows at the valet still reading Union Plaza- been there a LONG time I suppose, surviving the Plaza, and Jackie Gaughan's Plaza years, and since word has it the hotel will re-open as the Union Plaza once more, they will likely stay as history completes its full circle.
