Took a ride over to the Jackson Rancheria today for the final day of their poker room and their $1 poker chips. Place was booming. Long waits for a seat at the poker table and every seat filled at the blackjack, Carib. Stud, Let It Ride and other table games. Even all of the Nevada-style slots were occupied. About the only empty chairs to be found were in front of some of the old coinless slots. I asked about slot cards and was told they'd have 'em at the end of the month. Their new restaurant was excellent and very reasonable. Also their level of entertainment is very high (at least if you like country music). Tanya Tucker was last night's performer for the New Year and they've had such stars as Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers, Oak Ridge Boys, Trace Adkins, Merle Haggard, Pam Tillis, Styx during the past year. Stoppped by the two clubs in Stockton on my way home. The Delta had two tables going: A 4-8 hold 'em with several house players and a Pai Gow game going with mostly stacks of $100 chips being bet. The Cameo was a little busier but they need a sweeper in front of the place. Had to walk through literally hundreds of cigarette butts to get in the door.
