I have finalized my plans to once again travel cross country to the Chip Convention in Vegas in June. I will on the road by myself this year as Nancy has decided to stay home and take care of the gardens that she loves so much.
I will be leaving Delaware on June 7th and heading South to Biloxi, Gulfport, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles and then on thru Texas. I will be stopping at the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalaro, New Mexico and then I will travel thru Tucson, Phoenix and Yuma, Arizona. Then it off to San Diego via Interstate 8. After a couple of days in San Diego, I'll be stopping to see friends in LA. i'll arrive in Las Vegas on Sunday June 19th for all the Convention activities. I'll be leaving town and heading home on Saturday June 25th.
After an over night stay in Laughlin, I'll head to Albuquerque, New Mexico then turn North to Colorado. In Colorado I'll visit Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and Central City. From Colorado I'll head East toward home on Interstate 70 with stops in Kansas City and St. Louis.
The final leg of the trip will take me thru West Virginia with stops at Charleston and Charles Town, where I hope to harvest some nice West Virginia roulettes. If everything goes according to schedule I'll be home in Delaware on July 3rd so I can celebrate the 4th of July with the Grandkids. I will have traveled around 7000 miles thru 21 states.
I will be 65 on March 29th and I don't know how many more of these cross country trips I'll be able to make, but I'll keep doing it as long as I can. Some of the 10 to 12 hour driving days can get a little tiring. When the Grandkids get to be 16 maybe they will come with Pop-Pop and do some of the driving and see America and all of it's beauty - that would be nice.
This is my 11th cross country trip since I retired in 2001. I really enjoy getting out and seeing all the great sights, meeting interesting people along the way and naturally picking up great chips, slot cards and other casino memorabilia.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Vegas in June.
Take care,
Jerry
