I saw the post Roy Klein made a couple of days ago on his spectacular chip find and it brought back some nice memories for me. Show below is a small sampling of chips I picked up on October 6, 1996 at a flea market in PA. I found several colors of most of the chips shown like the CH, BL, CA GW, etc. along with a lot of other nice inlaid poker chips not shown in the scan.
The 2 finds had a lot of similarities.
My find had to have been put together by a chip collector - Roy's find was also assembled by an old time collector.
My find was two 200 chip wooden holders- Roy's find was also in 2 chip holders.
I got a great Large Crown Swan chip - Roy got an even nicer Cord Mold Swan chip !!
I got some Crest and Seal chips - Roy got some unbelievable Crest and Seal chips !!
I don't know what Roy paid for his find but I got 400 chips for $40.00. This was one of my best deals every at 10 cents a chip.
Moral to the story - Keep looking - there are still Chip Treasures waiting to be discovered.
Finding a hoard of great old chips is one of the true joys of this great Hobby.
Take care,
