so, my Dad goes to Mt Airy casino with his lady friend to celebrate her 60th birthday. It is his second visit there in a two week period. He books one night and they arrive around noon. They gamble, have dinner and retire to their room about 9:30. At about 1:45 am someone is pounding on their door. He scrambles to get dressed and go to the door. In the meanwhile, the phone rings. His lady friend answers and it's security and they tell her to open the door, they are there to "arrest" my father. He answers the door to find a security officer and two state troupers at the door. They tell him he is being accused of taking a voucher that does not belong to him. My father only plays blackjack and has no idea what "voucher" they are talking about. He asks his lady friend who plays the slots, if she has any vouchers. She plays the slots and produces a voucher for 23.00 that she cashed out with earlier. They tell her that it is the wrong one and the one they are looking for is for $46.00!!! He couldn't believe it. At this point, they ask him for ID and he not only provides his ID but his badge as he is a retired police officer. The troupers get a bit nicer but the security guard is still being a jerk and insisting he has this voucher as he was seen on camera taking it. They ask him to walk down the hall way to the cameras so someone on the other end can confirm his identity. He walks down and waves in the camera. The person on the other end tells them they have the wrong guy as the guy they are looking for is balding. Thank goodness he still has his hair. They left and my dad and his friend spent the rest of the night watching TV as they were too upset and angry to sleep. He wanted to do something nice for her birthday and the whole trip was ruined.
The best part is he got the names of the management there and called several times and received no return calls so he asked me to help him write an email to them. I sent the email last night describing the whole incident. The Hotel manager called him today and could care less. He blamed the state police for the whole thing and wasn't even apologetic. Needless to say, he will not be going back there.
