old days no sports books in hotels, as you know, I used Churchill downs, and Sanita small joints on the strip across from the Duns. Also, went downtown and used the book off Freemont st. I wish I had a post card they gave out at the Sanita Anita book showing a colorfull picture of a bum showing a wad of $ A great characture picture, on post card. I used to have dozens, all lost. Those were the fun day's of Vegas. Sammy Cohen owned and ran the Sanita book. I almost shut him down. I liked hourse in 1970"s running in KY derby, I bet a bundle in the future books got 200 to 1 odds The horse led but 2 lenghts in mid strech, died on the wire to run 3rd. Sammy told me if I won the 25,000.00 It would shut him down. I can't remember the horses name now, but a thrill at the time. Thanks for sharing.
