First flag had 15 stars, then 13 then congressional legislation required 13 stripes and one star for each state. One of the largest flags was the one that flew over Fort McHenry which was the inspiration for the Star Spangled Banner. There used to be a flag in every classroom in America and the pledge used to be recited every morning. In California a boy cannot attach an American flag to his bicycle and attend school. The supreme court said you can burn the flag. If displayed at night a flag must be lighted. If the flag is flown upside down it is a sign of distress. Colors - white is purity, Red is valor, blue is justice (may be out of order). And the stars stand for divinity - guess if the libs knew this they would ask for the flag to be torn down? Sorry Paul about all I can remember from 6th grade but it is ten times what any student or teacher for that matter knows today?
