.....quite clear.
Jim, along with yourself, Gene and Andy (and now Paul)......
I will NOT buy any slabbed chip.
I will NOT have any slabbed chip in my collection.
I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who sells slabbed chips.
I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who grades chips for a slabbing service.
I will NOT do business of any kind with any dealer who participates in any way in the slabbing of chips.
Your position is clear and concise and I truly applaud you for taking such a SOLID stand on the issue.
Although I am NOT in support of slabbing, I am NOT in support of banning. I believe it is our duty as members of this fine club to educate our members, not to dictate to them. Each member should be allowed to make his or her own decisions. Banning is not the solution. Banning does not unite - it divides.
If we believe that the members at large do not understand the pitfalls of slabbing, then we can certainly educate our members through the various channels that are available to us, such as the quarterly magazine, the CC & GTCC web site, seminars at the annual conventions, etc.
What makes this club so unique (IMHO) is the diversity and FREEDOM of choice and expression that has been fostered, at least up to this point. I for one would prefer to fight for continued freedom, not the banning of slabbed chips.
I will state again, for the record:
I will NOT buy any slabbed chip.
I will NOT have any slabbed chip in my collection.
I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who sells slabbed chips.
I will NOT buy ANY chip from any dealer who grades chips for a slabbing service.
I will NOT do business of any kind with any dealer who participates in any way in the slabbing of chips.
I implore you to move "education on chip slabbing" to the top of your list of concerns, not the "banning of slabbed chips".
Best Regards -
Mike Quinlivan
