John,
We conducted a focus group study about the MOGH 6 weeks ago with 28 invited guests from the museum/cultural community of Clark County and from the casino/tourism industry. Are you sure you weren't part of this group?
The idea of "traveling exhibits" was one of the points that came out of the focus group that we had never thought of before. These could help with exposure for the organization and may very well turn into a revenue stream.
We have just begun to discuss the idea. It has a lot of merit, but the logistics and execution will be a challenge. But if approached or asked, we would entertain the idea of setting up an exhibit in a location away from Vegas.
In fact, we have been asked to assist one of the hotels in Las Vegas with their upcoming anniversary celebration in exactly this manner. The discussions are still ongoing, so any announcement of who, what and when will be some time in the future. Doing something like this in Vegas is one thing, sending an exhibit "on the road" is another entirely.
And Jim, as for being able to do it before the "brick and mortar" is in place, it would be extremely difficult to do from a logistical standpoint. Impossible, no. We don't have to have the "ultimate home" up and running before we undertook something like this, but we do, in my mind, need a place of operation to be able to design, assemble and manage a traveling display. That part we are currently working on as well.
Thanks for the thoughts.
