History of the "Gaming Collectors" Horseshoe chip

I have had this a long time and just ran across it looking for casino free-play tokens. I believe it relates to the magazine that Al Moe published for collectors in the early days, but I don't have it written down anywhere. Al had a collectibles shop in Reno, so it might have been good in trade there. Anyone know for sure?

Anyway, this one is yours for $10, delivered. I have only one.
