Now, maybe they didn't really mean it the way they said it, but even the NFL cannot cancel the laws of physics! <g> Of course, momentum CAN carry a defender into the end zone on plays other than interceptions! If someone is moving fast enough in the direction of the goal line when he recovers a fumble, it may be physically impossible for him to stop his movement in that direction before he crosses the goal line.
What they mean, of course, is that they are going to treat the situation as if the player voluntarily moved into the end zone, even if the rule defies logic and the laws of physics.
Representative of a lot of what passes for "thinking" in the NFL these days. The call may have been correct under the rules, but the rule which makes it correct is DUMB. ----- jim o\-S
