MGM Grand Reno first opened in 1978 as the world’s largest hotel casino. In 1986 the property along with the MGM Grand in Las Vegas were sold to Bally Gaming Corp. In 1992 Hilton Hotels outbid Harvey’s Lake Tahoe for this property and it was named Reno Hilton. In 2005 Harrah’s Entertainment acquired Caesars Entertainment and sold Reno Hilton to Grand Sierra Resorts, the present owner.
Here's a picture from our room when it was the Reno Hilton in 2005. It overlooked a lake with a driving range. It was called AquaGolf and if you hit one of your golf balls into a basket on one of the little islands you could win a trip to Hawaii! Wow! What a prize!
Here's an EC from MGM Reno:
We usually make a day trip to Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Virginia City.
