I've seen many of them..

and know they guy that brought them out originally. He is a well respected chipper. He also had them over at Mike Spinetti's store for a while, but not sure if there any left there. It was quite an ordeal to get them out. there were small ones, and some that were made smaller, and as Gene had mentioned others that took a fork lift to get out.

This auction however, does not look to me to be as they came out of the ground. But rather that it is a real hunk of the dig, with some of the other dig chips glued around the chunk in various positions to try to make a nice display. This of course is only my opinion. I'm judging merely from the auction scan.

On a related note, I have a number of the Sands chips from the dig. Some were found in really nice shape, while most were severely damaged by the acid of the concrete, and many with certain colors bleached out of the inlay. Many, were cracked and badly chipped.

As a somber note, there were many collectors that saw the values of their pristine, non dig chips drop to horrible levels. One of the tought pills to swallow in our hobby.
