Short of those noble concepts, I think that the general costs associated with coming up with an effective and quality way to duplicate the UV tagging is probably greater than the current value of the chips.

As far as I know, the original issue of Luxor $1 chips, is probably in the $3 - $5 range. A specific, yet common, ID tag might put it to $7 or $8, but the counterfeiter will have to incur the cost of a blank chip (no UV tag) and then the costs to apply the UV tag.

It certainly is ironic that the UV tagging done by Chipco to a $1 chip was useless to Luxor and so beneficial to collectors. After all, who would bother to counterfeit a live-action $1 chip, and who could counterfeit a counterfeit-protected chip without going over the re-sale value of the chip?
