I don't think so. Under a glass it looks like the circle is slightly worn - like it might have been higher around the edge of the metal insert. It appears that the clay material covers some of the flat area on the metal insert - it is uneven in places (ie - not a perfect circle). The cross hatching matches perfectly in all the worn areas - its just a bit lighter. It may be a "repaired chip" as Gene says but it is pretty interesting. I would like to see some of the other chips in this series to see if they have the same type of wear. The Story I got from the seller was that the chips were only used for a short time because they did have a wear problem.
