Dominican Chip?? As I said, JUST ASK!!!!!!!!
These are Dominican chips from the casino "El Millon" which serves 3 hotels of the Comar "Bahia Principe" chain. The main Hotel and where the casino is located is Club Hotel Riu Bachata. Casino is also used by Club Hotel Riu Mambo, and Club Hotel Riu Merengue. All named after Dominican dances!!
The Hotels and casino are located in the Maimon Bahia in the North coast of the island, not far from Puerto Plata. These are called by locals and tourist, the "Fun Hotels". They are all-inclusive, not open all year, but the hotels and "mini town" parties all day/night long, 24 hours. The hotels have discotheques, Night clubs, dancing hall for Dominican music and they pick the "most active and funnest hosts." Not well known in USA, as most tourists there are from the UK, promoted by a UK firm.
CHIPS: At first, generic Comar Gran bahia chips were used in the hotel. Once it was established that the casino and the 3 hotels would succeed the classic designed chips of Comar/Gran Bahia were made with the Bachata name, because the casino is not normally called by its name, El Millon, but by the hotel, Bachata. As you can see, that is the name they used. In general, in the DR the chips are made by the name of the hotel rather than the casino, unless is a self standing casino, with no hotel, which are now prohibited. You can see the difference in design in chips with US denomination and the ones with RD denomination. Exchange rate 36pesos per $1US dollar.
The chips are not rare perse because they can also be fund n some other casino from same chain that is low in some chip denomination, but otherwise, the chps are more likely to be found as souveniers in England than in the USA.
Thanks for showing and I love seeing chips, specially if I did not have them, so please feel free to show me chips any time!!
