that it was a Federal offense to open someone else's mail. I have no idea if it is or was ever true, though. I know there is no requirement to put wrongly-addressed mail back into the system, but I was always taught to do it. I thought most people do. I also read somewhere that you can't simply keep merchandise that is wrongly sent to you, but, once again, I have no idea if that's true. Pretty obscure laws, I would think.
