The Chip Board and the Chip Guide are two separate things. The Chip Board is unaffiliated with the Club, as it always has been. The Chip Guide was donated to the Museum of Gaming History which is fully owned and run by the Club. Thus, it is now owned and maintained by the Club.
Of course, anyone who wants to create their own guide to any aspect of chip and/or casino collecting may do so. Personally, I am thankful for all of the guides out there, in book or pamphlet form or available to peruse on the internet. Since I am not the one who has put in countless hours of time creating or maintaining them, I don't feel it is appropriate for me to complain about them, even if I felt so inclined. Had I created my own site, I may feel otherwise, but I have no real complaints about any of the guides. As I said, I am just glad others have taken so much time to create them.
It also seems to me that Charles Kaplan, who is putting in enormous amounts of time in those endeavors, may have additional reasons for rejecting your offer for donating your time. Perhaps you may want to consider making some gesture toward eliminating those reasons. It's your choice.
