Two hundred and twenty years ago today (1790) the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service was formed.
The U.S. Revenue Cutter Service was established by Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton in 1790 as an armed maritime law enforcement service. In 1915 the Service merged with the United States Life-Saving Service to form the United States Coast Guard.
I am proud to have served in this great organization in uniform for over 25 years and being associated with it for an additional 25 years in retirement. The men and women who serve/served are special people. If you get a chance, thank a Coastguardsman for his/her service.
SEMPER PARATUS!
