~~~ from my Carl Fisher file, and though I have not heard of anyone actually saying they have played with the chips, there is a note from Michael J. Glenn (sent to Fisher) explaining Capone's doings on the Beach, dated 29 May 1930, saying: "The Roman Pools Casino was raided one night this winter by private detectives, and all the gambling paraphanalia was taken out, and owner, Frank Dineed, sent word to the Sherrif's office that if his gambling paraphanalia was not brought back to his place by the following day, he would have somebody in jail, as he was paying $1000 a week protection and he would not stand for a double cross. The next day the paraphanalia was returned to his place."
Perehaps one day someone will come forward with the chip info we're looking for....
While searching at the South Florida Historical Library when I was researching the Floridian Casino (we had no idea where the chips were from when first found), I found a file of 19 pages of letters from Miami townfolk who were spilling whatever beans they had regarding Capone. Some info got into books/movies/TV... some did not. The letters (on both original letterheads and Western Union Telegrams) are dated from 27 March, 1930 thru 6 June, 1930.
