Hi Bill,
"The fact that CEO's are making 1000 times what the average worker bee makes is why unions are still needed."
Very few CEO's make 1000 times what the average "worker bee" makes. ...I can't think of one at the moment. ...why would it matter at this point in time anyway, other than jealousy? Base pay scales are set on what an individual can accomplish for the company as a whole. The guys and girls that do the most work that keep the company profits up should get rewarded for their efforts, above and beyond what the unuion says they deserve. I view labor unions as an antiquated form of socialism as practiced in America today. If that's what you think is right, that's your opinion.
"The fact that manufacturing is being moved overseas where the workers are paid pennies on the dollar are why unions are still needed."
Huh? Unemployment is very low. The jobs that are being done overseas are jobs that Americans don't want to do, period! Those jobs overseas are also bolstering their local economies. That means some of them will start buying our stuff, tilting the current trade deficit in our favor.
"If today's corporations can make an extra buck at the expense of their workers, you better look out."
Todays' corporations MUST maximize income because they have to pay their employees, then they also have to turn a profit to make money for those people who have invested in the company. If there is no company due to strangulation from a union, you have no jobs, and lost investments.
Envy is green and very unattractive. It also is not a reason to demonize company executives. For the most part, they've earned their positions. If you want to know how to make a lot of money, ask someone who has done it how they did it. Don't ask a union boss, he'll think you want his job!
