A seller can cancel an auction on E-Bay at any time, provided, there are NO bids on the item. If there are any bids on the item in question, the seller must notify each and every bidder that he (seller) wishes to cancel the auction on the item and give a reason (usually, the seller had made an error in description of the item - in which case he "should" repost item with corrected description). However, since you now have an e-mail record from the seller stating that he already sold the item(s) to someone else outside of or not using E-Bay, you should notify E-Bay as to the reason why the item was removed/cancelled. Let E-Bay handled it from there. I have notified sellers in the past to sell me an item outright, but there were no bids on the item, so, no problem. It's up to you... how badly do/did you want the item(s) that this seller had posted? Good Luck!
