Former KC man accused of using counterfeit casino chips
A former Kansas City man was indicted today on charges he passed more than $100,000 worth of counterfeit gambling chips at the Argosy Casino in Riverside.

Federal prosceutors say Zhe Li, a naturalized U.S. citizen from China now living in Wichita and who is also known as Kevin, presented more than 1,000 counterfeit $100 chips at the Argosy over a two-month period in 2008.

The indictment charges Li, 37, with transporting proceeds of the alleged fraud across state lines, of structuring deposits to avoid bank reporting requirements and of making false statements to obtain food stamps.

The indictment was unsealed in Kansas City after Li made his first appearance today in U.S. District Court in Wichita.

If convicted, Li could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison and fined up to $1 million.
