If the book is missing any matches I just remove them all. The covers lay nice in a binder without matches. There are matchbook binder pages you can buy.

I tend to leave complete books intact. If it is a new matchbook and I have plenty. I will remove the matches from one and put the cover in the binder. All my extras are then put away complete.
