In a recent purchase of inlaid monogram poker chips the seller included some inlaid poker chips (Seymour Code PW-YQ) that never completely made it through the manufacturing process. The lacquer was not applied over the inlay. I was able to remove the paper inlay, intact, and measure the recess in the chip.
Results: The recess in the chip measures exactly 11/1000" (.011").
The paper inlay measures exactly 11/1000" (.011").
To compare, a piece of computer paper (Georgia Pacific "Multi-Purpose" paper) measures 4/1000" (.004").
Interestingly, I also measured the thickness of the chip on four different places on the chip. Exactly 1/8".
The chip scanned seems to have some sort of "sparkle" to it. It appears that metal flakes may have been mixed with the clay. Has anyone seen any other chips like this? I have an old hot stamped poker chip, $1.00 denomination, that has "sparkling" paint in the hot stamp.
