I graduated from Engineering school in 1960 and went to work for General Electric in Phoenix. I was a member of American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Fall Joint Computer Conference was the major west coast conference for this society and the Association for Computing Machinery. 1963 was probably the first of these western conferences I attended as a new engineer. There was also an annual east coast conference. The societies have undergone several name changes over the years and the joint computer conferences are no longer held as such. Las Vegas did host COMDEX and later the Consumer Electronics Show as the world of electonics changed direction to design more products for consumers.
I wasn't collecting casino chips in 1963, but I did begin visiting Las Vegas to play the games a couple of years later (after Ed Thorp published "Beat the Dealer"). I picked up this green chip a few years ago an one of the chip shows in Las Vegas, I believe from WalterD. I have been hoping to find others, but this is the only FJCC chip I've run across. However, I have found quite a few chips produced by exhibitors at the various LV electronics shows over the years.
