I would like to make a recommendation to the board for next year’s convention banquet. Many individuals including myself believe the food served has deteriorated to the point that some action must be taken to avoid losing any banquet attendees including my wife and me and the remaining eight individuals at my table and I am sure others.
South Point is a quality place that CAN serve acceptable food if properly ordered as well as the delivery technique.
During our convention at other locations carving stations were established serving turkey, beef etc. In fact if my memory serves me suckling pig was also served at one of our conventions. In my opinion and others who attended the banquet the food served, at this banquet, was unacceptable.
Without criticism towards any individual, I believe it has become necessary to alter the banquet food processing system. I suggest we do away with the buffet system and go with a system that is used at other types of conventions and weddings. Perhaps we can utilize a food service technique where a banquet attendee can order one of say three items: prime rib, fish or chicken with his/her banquet application.
The food could be served without anyone having to leave their table except to go order a cocktail. I find it absolutely amazing that pork was served without a beef alternative when a large portion of our membership is Jewish. I enjoy pork but the pork served at this banquet was “grey” in color, overcooked and looked unappetizing.
If we cannot deliver this type of “sit down” dinner for $45.00 or $50.00 perhaps we should go back to simple wine, salad and cheese. I could go on complaining but that is not my intent. My intent is to instrument change to a more acceptable system and a better quality of food.
To those who found the banquet food acceptable I have nothing further to say or could say.
Thank You,
Jim Perlowski LM 2848-127
Rena M. Perlowski LM 3382-151
And the other eight members at my banquet table.
