Re: NCR - slot token question
Franklin Mint made casino tokens for Nevada up through about 1982. None since then. The dollar tokens were used to play the machines. The $5 tokens were too high a denomination for the 1960's and if they were used at all, the were on the table games, as most games had $5 minimums. Some of the $5's sell for over melt value (they are .925 silver) but the less well known places, not so much. Most of the dollars sell for $2-5 as many are available uncirculated from the sets. There are a few FM tokens made in metals that were NOT in the collector sets and they do sell at a premium. Also, the silver clad $5 tokens generally sell for more than the sterling tokens as they were the ones made for casino play and few were saved by collectors. Token collectors are more picky on condition than chip collectors, as the tokens are really ugly after a few drops into the machine's hopper.
