You can actually use a scanner to show the edges, Marc. It's a little clumsy, and you have to take 2 or 3 scans if you want to show the entire circumference of the chips. Just rubberband the stack together and put it edgewise on the glass.

I've also experimented with 'rolling the stack' as the scanner bar moves and it comes out pretty good. Shows the whole pic, just as it looks on the proofs you get from the chip maker. Usually takes several trys, though.
