Consider using FedEx ground. I find that for heavy items it is cheaper than USPS and you can get a receipt. Insurance over $100 is only $.60/$100.
I have had this problem with ebay and PP and now insure and get delivery confirmation for anything over $100.
Consider getting collectible insurance. I have had it for years and they pay within 2 weeks.
