As travel agents, Sandi and I have been to PR many times. If it is your first time, San Juan is a must. The El San Juan Hotel and Casino is one of the most beautiful hotels in the world. It's beach facilities are second to none. It is now part of the Hilton chain of hotels. The Caribe Hilton (no casino now) is also fantastic. It's beach facilities are on par will the El San Juan. If you would like to stay in the middle of historic Old San Juan, look at the El Convento. Like the name says, it is an old convent converted to a hotel. The food and bar features are outstanding. Very romantic. The food through out PR is fantastic, very Cuban like yet different. You've got to like pork.

So much to see and do in San Juan and the surrounding areas, a week will fly by. As you move away from San Juan, English becomes a second language, so a little Spanish would be nice, but not required.
