The Chip Board Archive 20

Re: Al, How long have you been dealing in

You asked: "I bought a chip off this board the other day for $10 including postage. When it came the dealer had a $20 price tag on it, my references say it is worth about $26 (out dated) so what is the value ?

I would say:
1. $20 when the seller marked it.
2. $10 when you bought it.
3. $0 to someone who didn't want it.
4. $value marked on the chip- when used in play.
5. $variable to others- some might pay more, others less.

Like buying a share of stock the bid price and the ask price are just numbers -- the SALE PRICE is the value (AT THAT TIME, but it starts all over with the next transaction). Price guides are simply speculation based on past performance and do not indicate future preformance. Just as the price tag of $20 on the chip was just 'hopeful thinking' at the time it was marked.
