When I called , the individual said that the casino would not cash in the few chips he had and since he was looking for face value, I offered that. He told what denominations he had and that they came out to $14, but would I pay $20. Seeing how there were 4 fractionals and he said they were brand new, I agreed.
We met in a parking lot near the casino and made the exchange in 100 plus degrees heat!
I was very surprised and happy to see the dark center $5, as they were pulled from the poker tables (the only tables games at the time) with two months. While I had heard that they were pulled because the blackand white cameras (at that time) were having a problem discerning the difference between the $5's and $100's. However, as this seller explained it (a former employee) the dark center $5's had a green edge, just like the $1 chips and the ocassional $1 chip(s) mixed in with a rack of $5 chips, was easily overlooked!
Anyway, not a bad little acquisition! All of the chips that appear brighter, are satin finish and the remaining are linen finish.
Thanks for looking!
Jim
