And people are glued to their TV sets for every last gruesome detail of a plane crash or celebrity arrest or whatever. Or rubbernecking the accident on the freeway. Or wanting to get as close as they can to that hostage standoff. Sometimes what people think they want to know is not what they need to know. Sometimes the crowd has to be restrained so the official process can actually work.
